You posed this to address the unix issue, however I would like to turn it around and discuss Word. MS Word has turned into what the old FrameMaker used to be when I was forced to use that to produce technical docs - in other words, Word is too complex and cumbersome for 90% of documents used in the workplace UNLESS you are a document processing professional.

You must be joking ? There is nothing forcing you to used the more advanced features of Word. Newer versions of Word are no more difficult to use - just richer in features for people who care to invest 1-2 days to learn them.

. Today's product is not like that, its slow, and you can erroneously hit some toolbar key like overstrike and spend « hour trying to figure out what you did and how to get out of it.

It's called "undo" and is it's been off the edit menu since 2.0.
