Peter Sherman: If DoCoMo has a "full CDMA commitment" this is great news.

Up to now, DoCoMo has been the primary supplier of analog and PHS digital wireless in Japan. Its competition has been rolling out CDMA One. DoCoMo has not - at least not yet to my knowledge

Are you referring to the DoCoMo's announcement's on WCDMA for third gen CDMA by any chance? That is still in testing (the terminal is carried around in a truck at last report) and can not be and is not in use anywhere in the world commercially yet. And the specs are still under discussion and have not yet even been agreed to - let alone received final approval.

Curious what you mean?

gdichaz is correct re DoCoMo. Furthermore, DoCoMo has been terribly capacity constrained, which led to the view that it was pressuring Ericy on 3G and helped lead to the Ericy settlement. You may be thinking of DDI-IDO, which is a Japanese competitor to DoCoMo and is cdma.
