Didn't say it had twice the density, said the that shipping die were twice the capacity...

OK - but this seems to happen because of the interaction between die sizes and preferred package dimensions. Maybe this is why Rambus have announced plans to reduce the number of memory pages on each die for higher density devices. If they can avoid being pushed down in size by a power of two this would be a tremendous gain from perhaps a small loss in performance. I can see that it might not have been obvious from the outset. It wasn't to me until today.

Interesting. I do find these discussions useful, especially as the numbers make such good sense. I am glad that Rambus are addressing this issue
