Here it is: "... all of the current athlon production has been recalled...that is right 100% has been recalled." ok kz...you explain this to the thread...each and every point... unclewest A letter dated Aug. 21, to personal computer makers, which was cosigned by AMD and MSI, said that they found some of the motherboards equipped with AMD's chipsets lack compatibility and cannot fulfill PC cold starts. tell us why amd co-signed the letter! MSI will join with AMD to find solutions to the problems. why is msi joining with amd to solve the problem? why is it not an exclusive msi problem? Also, MSI said it will replace MS-6167 motherboards, which have already been shipped, with modified ones. Users can distinguish between flawed motherboards and modified ones by the shape of a sticker that reads "for Japanese market" on each motherboard package. The former units have a star shape seal and the later units feature a round one. why flawed boards...for goodness sakes why flawed anything?...what tests where missed or shortcut? PC retailers that have shipped products with the Athlon system will soon begin exchanges. in my country, pc retailers ship to consumers not wholesalers as dan said. and what does soon mean? sounds to me like we are working on the problem and we will let you know...soon...we hope, what if anything we can do. whomis going to buy these flawed systems? AMD hasn't disclosed details about the chipset-related problems. Unlike the contents of the cosigned letter to the PC makers, AMD's PR unit said that its chipsets have no defects, but there is a problem with incompatibility among components installed on the motherboards. what is amd hiding?...why are they having problems with mobo's and components? is this a joke? amd's pr says we have no problem...the problem is none of the manufacturers that make computer components made any to work with our chipsets. this is hilarious!!! MSI explained that the combination of a 600MHz Atholn chip and AMD's chipset (production version C1 or C2) has a high probability of encountering problems. kz, i await your answer to this. AMD Japan Ltd. asked MSI and PC retailers to refrain from selling MS-6167 motherboards and products equipped with the motherboards until the modified ones are introduced. tell your distribution channel not to sell. that is going to be real good for sales... Replacement work will be done by MSI, and AMD will share the replacement costs (US$8 a board). ok, i get it...it has nothing to do with athlon...amd is making so much money they are giving it away to save the world. Due to the problems of incompatibility among some components installed on the motherboards, AMD implemented customer service that's regarded as epoch-making. That's because it proposed replacing all the Athlon motherboards with modified ones. kz...call that fud or whatever you want...if that is not a 100% recall by amd...there never has been one. oh that is right...epoch making means this is the first. lets all run right down and buy the athlon...your computer won't start so you can retire. unclewest
