Skeeter,
Sun bought a German company called Star Division that makes a freebe office suite downloadable today. The download options let you pick an OS, including Linux. Sun plans to give away a net version. All this leads to cheaper boxes, in some cases free boxes.

On the wide gap between the spot vs contract prices for DRAM (a situation that comes up from time to time in oil) you comment, of course, the bulls just extrapolate out forever and get absurdities like 60%+ higher prices in a higher supply / lower demand environment.
My problem with the situation is even more basic. It seems to me an $80 share price implies $4-$5/share in annual earnings. Even with $10 spot prices, I don't see MU with $4-5/shr. The share price seems to me driven by hype but the hype could push it up another $10-15/shr by earnings at the end of the month. The stock seems to me a little ahead of itself--maybe four or five years ahead.
Best,
--Steve
