Nope, I can't say that I have. One of my neighbours used to work with all kinds of things like stumps, burls, etc... but he moved away. He was mainly into woodturning, but also did marquetry. Most of my woodwork is in sculptures, masks and things. Sometimes do little architectural detail work or carving on furniture. For carving, I work mostly in pine, cedar and basswood...sometimes with driftwood (mostly cedar roots).

BTW, when I was down in Nova Scotia driving along the main road from Digby to Brier Island, there was a little table out at the road with all kinds of oddball pieces of wood displayed on and around it... mainly burls of all shapes and sizes... The road is quite heavily travelled during tourist season, so I was thinking that the owner might actually sell quite a few pieces of wood that way. Woodworkers/turners/carvers tend to be kind of addicted to this stuff... (-:
