Cheeky -

Doomers have been saying the sky is falling for the last few years. What happened?

Point of order, sir. Is there room for a label something to the left of doomer & significantly to the right of ostrich/polyanna?

Assuming you've not made your living in software, I can teach you all you need to know about software projects...
#1 - software project typically run late, and
#2 - big software projects run later.

There are subtle nuances to these facts of life, but dems is da basics.

Now if you can point to ANY firm, company, organization, or government that will and can claim it has sucessfully dealt with the above two facts, please to let me know...

Easy, here goes Cheeky - >>You know all the critical dates that have come and gone with no or minor problems? Don't make me list all those dates either.<<
Those were always a side show (some people got carried away admittedly)and NEVER more than a warning of what is to come... the failures are out there but will not be overwhelming or involve EMBEDDED systems until AFTER rollover. I and others did underestimate the gov't ability to keep the media in line and figured panic was possible by now--

>>Not to mention doomers predicted that food shortages would be happening right now from panic stricken people stock piling food.<<
>>No food shortages last time I was in the store.<<
Exactly right you are-- the gov't and media have done a perfect con job of keeping the sheep in line which is the strategy I expected and even accepted --as there is simply no benefit to starting panic ahead of rollover. Those who will listen have had plenty of info and time to prepare the ones who cannot or will not accept possible disruption of cushy life have done nothing.
So you use the fact that there is no panic to justify your blindness ?
Poor cheeky
