Alan : It's my feeling that it's not public perception but media exaggeration that has amplified the importance of CB sales over the other sources of gold. Somehow one expects mines to mine and people to dispose of their old jewellery but CBs are not expected to sell their gold. And, if they do, it's a major catastrophe or else a conspiracy.
