Generally, as a rule of thumb, net profit on groceries range around
1%. Health and beauty items, like shampoo, shaving stuff, etc has the highest margins while meats and produce usually net the lowest.

The 1% profit margin may seem low but that is the industry average for grocery stores. But 1% of the huge volume says it all.
