tejek, Armonk is where the Armonkeys live. ibm.com It is the headquarters of IBM. I was inferring that IBM is quietly accumulating a stake in preparation of an offer. They have now had a good look at the Athlon and they have done the calculations versus cost of silicon versus what they pay AMD coupled with the potential 2-4 year life of the Athlong in all it's derivatives and they own a lot of server space and they can see it would be far cheaper to buy AMD than to buy CPUs. If they buy AMD and then use the CPUs internally and never sell them to others then Intel will keep the prices high and IBM will have silicon at cost.
Just a speculation based on a surmise.

Bill
