Still, bob, wouldn't you rather know that, IF a threat did occur, another nation would be willing to help rather than sit back apathetically, only worried about themselves and the countries more closely tied to their economy?

Thank you sharing your personal experience that the people of Hong Kong are still breathing the sweet air of freedom. Most people also don't know that Taiwan trades with and invests heavily in the PRC, and that many Taiwanese yearn for reunion with the homeland sooner rather than later. It is more than likely that upon such a reunion, China would apply a "one country, three systems" policy just as equitably as it has applied a "one country, two systems" policy with regard to Hong Kong--the "jewel in the PRC crown."
