That is tempting as a reaction. However, Schroeder up to now has only succeeded in rhetorics, and due to his appeal to female voters (that is better understood when physically comparing him to Mr. Kohl, of course). Schroeder does only seemingly make clear politics. Actually he is not stating at all how he is going to realize his targets. Leaving this to the ministers, and then throwing them out is not a problem-solving political strategy. I think better of Mr. Eichel, but he is, like all his predecessors, not more than a leaf in the wind of the Chancellor's moods.

Schroeder is a good teacher in smugness, though. Is that the lesson for us Germans?
