Nortel/Illinois PCS Order -2: Scheduled For
October

DALLAS -- Nortel Networks Corp. (NT) said it has received a three-year,
$32 million order for CDMA Metro Cell base stations and DMS-100
Wireless switching equipment from Illinois PCS, an affiliate of Sprint Corp.'s
PCS Group (PCS).

In a news release, Nortel said the network is scheduled for commercial
service in October. Illinois PCS will provide personal communications
services under the Sprint PCS brand in central Illinois and the Quad Cities
using cdmaOne network infrastructure equipment.

Nortel said it is now building CDMA networks valued at more than $150
million for four Sprint affiliates - Southwest PCS in Texas, Oklahoma,
Arkansas and Kansas; Alamosa PCS in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and
Colorado; Swiftel in South Dakota, and Illinois PCS.

Nortel Networks, Brampton, Ont., is a communications-networking
company.
