When I learned my children were gay I freaked also. That is why I joined PFLAG initially. However I did not throw them out of the house and neither did Cher. And Cher (also a member of PFLAG) supports her daughter now. Many families go through a period of mourning when they first learn they have gay children and it takes time to adjust to that fact. I am concerned about my kids physical safety as some right wing conservatives feel bringing physical harm or death to gays and lesbians is ok. I do not think my children will ever be attacked by liberals but it is possible that conservatives will do them physical and psychological harm.
