Patriot PSC1000-Based Module Announced by Denison Mayes Group of UK DMG's R2kup Now Available to OEM Manufacturers, Will Improve Time-To-Market of New Products.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 1999--Patriot Scientific Corp. (OTC:PTSC - news), the developer of the first market-ready microprocessor for Java(TM), announced today that Denison Mayes Group (DMG) is offering for sale a low-cost module which is designed around the PSC1000.

DMG of Leeds, United Kingdom, originally designed the R2kup module for internal use. Recognizing the need for low cost, high performance hardware for embedded applications led to the decision to offer the board in the commercial market. The module will enable OEMs to reduce their design cycle time for new products by integrating a full processor module into their design.

``The PSC1000 offers unparalleled price/performance advantages for embedded applications. Our new R2kup module leverages this advantage and adds a very compact, efficient and cost-effective design to create a compelling value for embedded systems designers,' said Keith Wooten, chief designer at DMG.

The module is ideal for use as a daughterboard or as part of a modular system. The board has been designed to allow programming of its Flash memory using a standard device programmer and is tolerant of 12V programming algorithms. The Flash memory can also be programmed in-system by the host processor.

A simple UART is included in firmware to allow downloading user programs to Flash using a standard XMODEM protocol. The module is very compact, measuring only 2.7`` x 1.8', and includes 4 Mb of Flash memory and 2 Mb of SRAM onboard. The R2kup module is available for GBP 125 in quantities of 1-9. Discounts for higher quantities are also available.

Additional information on the module, including a photograph, can be found at: d-m-g.demon.co.uk.

Jim Lunney, president of Patriot Scientific stated, ``DMG's new module is an outstanding example of the type of market-leading hardware that can be created utilizing the PSC1000. OEM Manufacturers will be able to produce PSC1000-driven products quicker than ever. We look forward to rapid acceptance of the R2kup module in the embedded systems market.'

Denison Mayes Group Ltd. is primarily a manufacturer of high quality materials testing equipment, including modern high-speed digital control systems. Additional corporate information about DMG is available at dmg-hq.demon.co.uk.
