Mercy must be shown, but one cannot get into bed with the sin. One has to be very careful not to entangle themselves in the very thing they are trying to save another form. This would include being in agreement with. This is part of where the old saying comes from "hate the sin, love the sinner" The only violence that Jesus condoned, was the violence that he knew christians would endure for believing in Him.
