Spectrian Secures $40 Million Asian Contract

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 3, 1999--Months of field trials with
network operators and OEMs in Asia have paid off for Spectrian Inc. (Nasdaq:SPCT - news) as they announced today that
they have reached an agreement in principle to supply cellular multicarrier amplifiers and shelves to a customer in the Asian
CDMA market through June, 2000.

A formal agreement is expected to be executed later this month. The contract is expected to result in revenues of
approximately $40 million and Spectrian expects to start shipping this month.

''We have been pursuing and preparing for this order for some time now. It's rewarding to have it secured,'' said Dr. Garrett
Garrettson, president and chief executive officer at Spectrian. ''The agreement is right in line with our objectives and efforts to
diversify our customer base, and we are looking forward to having Spectrian multicarrier amplifiers support wireless
communications in Asia.''

The agreement comes at an opportune time for Spectrian, who in the near term expects not to be developing new products for
its largest customer, while continuing to supply them with existing products. Dr. Garrettson added, ''New developments in
multiple markets are stretching our development team. This situation provides us with the flexibility to continue to diversify our
customer base while preserving our important relationships.''

The Spectrian multicarrier amplifiers will be used in various cellular applications by several Asian cellular OEMs and network
operators. The MCPS 2000 has a ''Rack and Stack'' ability, starting with the 100 watt unit as a building block that can be
combined for up to 350 watts of power. The advantage is that the MCPS 2000 can be configured for a variety of base station
profiles ranging from microcell omni-sector to a multiple sector high capacity macrocell site that requires an integrated transmit
rack system with 350 watts of power per sector.
