There is nothing morbid in believing that there may be some underlying order and purpose in the universe. People seem to be wired that way. Where the break with sense occurs is here:
There is something morbid (in the sense of self-defeating) about believing that one has an inside track on the RIGHT order-and-purpose.
There is something doubly morbid about then trying to IMPOSE that conceit of order-and-purpose on others. That way lies feud.
