Sun Microsystems Plans Java Center

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW - news) has picked the University of Pittsburgh to establish an Academic Java Center to train students in the Internet programming language.

The center at Pitt is the first Java established in the United States. The company plans to set up 15 centers around the world, offering students certificates of accomplishment in the Java language.

Under Sun's direction, students will work on pilot projects involving Pittsburgh-area businesses.

''By entering into this unique strategic partnership with Sun Microsystems, the University of Pittsburgh can offer Java technology to its students, therefore enhancing their potential for job opportunities after graduation,'' Pitt Provost James Maher said.

SUNW seems to be running on all cylinders,
Michael

We're trading at the day's high.

We've passed the MSFT multiple and are closing in (early) on the MSFT stock price.

It's time for some 'TA': Does anybody have a problem with $88?
