These chips are made with complex dynamic logic which Sony and Toshiba have very little experience with. (Anybody remember AMD's problems getting the K6-2 yielding well?) Oh, and they also use two drdrams. All this for a product replacing a product (PSI) that sells for $99. Recently a lot of HW engineers have discovered the concept of using SW to subsidize HW. They like that idea! NOTE: There have been 50 MU PSI sold. Losing $200 per unit results in $10B lose. The entire game console SW biz last year for all vendors was $8B (yes, I mixed cum with annual but you get the point.) My post was meant to indicate that I don't believe that they will just sail right into a volume ramp without major disappointments.
