I can't, though I think that is the case. Givent he number of times I went down the wrong path, I have little faith in my AMD sources. What I quote about AMD now a days comes from my OEM or Intel contacts.

I can't confirm, but it makes perfect sense for K8 to be extended to 64 bits just like 386 was extended to 32 bits. Steve Porter mentioned x86 register windows, a very neat idea, in my view, to increase the number of available registers within the bounds of x86 compatibility.
And the coolest thing of all is that Intel can't do the same: their hands are tied with Merced.
