In other words, YOU get to define who is a "conservative" and who is a "liberal"? Both terms are pretty slippery, since both carry a lot of contradictory historical baggage. For the purpose of this discussion, then, I suggest that each person who employs either one define what he or she means by it, so that you won't all be talking at cross-purposes. :-)

Incidentally, the "attack dog" approach is used, and has always been used, by people all across the political spectrum.
