<<<The worst exhibit- the one that did really bother me- was a doughnut shaped column about 3' in diameter. THe fish were swimming around and around in one direction, all of them, all crammed in, and never one breaking rank. It was terribly depressing.>>>

Was that The Freeway Tank?

Doomed to death -- indeed --- but I think it matters to us how we go. I saw of Emergency Vet (on Animal Planet) a vet intern who adopted a mastiff pup who was probably doomed and paid the bills to keep her alive for a little while longer. She made me feel a little better about the human race.
I want visitors to the zoos and aquariums to volunteer and take care of the animals. Let them watch movies. Spend some time volunteering in prisons.
