<<I believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. >>

This is the essance of the disagreement between liberals and conservatives.

Liberals believe this whole heartedly, while conservatives do not. To a conservative, the purpose of life is to suceed, not to be happy.

<<No, you do it to limit the conversation to side bars that you feel you can win>>

If you want to use this view, it does cut both ways in our posts. I didn't want to take the time to individualy defeat each of your arguements, as you don't want to do mine. So we each stick to the ones that are easiest to defeat.

To be honest, I think I'd love to sit down and discuss topics with you over a good single malt. I've had my mind changed in the past by good arguement, and I can say the same for people I've spoken with. It is just nearly impossible to do this with the point, counter point method neccessary in web strings.

My uncle (in law) is a dope smoking born again minister, and we've had many a lively discussion about conservative vs. liberal views. And, if you knew me, you'ld find I'm closer to your side of the fence then you think. I believe in individual rights being paramount to goverment regulaton.

In conservative issues, this means little gun control, and a postive free market environment. On the liberal side, this means government regulated prostitution, and I'm pro choice.

It's been a good discussion, although I don't think it really went anywhere, except making me stay late tonight to finish this due diligence work, ;-)
