Interesting article on the Titanic solution. I points out the cost effectiveness of working with Linux software in that, at least Linux has enough infrastructure to be worth fixing and is fixable. I think they would have been better off with Intel machines and a cluster but the cluster programming and architecture may have not been effective with their software.

The mating of NT to Linux and the system reliability is a demonstration of a mission critical real world application that should be a heads up call to many development and mission critical people. i.e la militaire etc... why not Bradley Beowulf clusters for acquisition comm and navigation?
