Thanks Will
I had begun to suspect something of the kind, and in truth it raises more questions than it answers. It sure explains why RT hasn't rushed into print with his MRDI report. We'll probably never know why the momentous decision to switch horses in mid project was made. It could be some politically obscure reason with political overtones either here or Tokyo or London. It could be Financial influence peddling. The next question is "Will the real Diavik Project please stand up????"

One thing that seems unlikely to me is the questioning of accuracy or reliability of MRDI's work at any stage particularly sinc they have Ekati under their belt, and Snap well in hand.

The appearance of a Japanese Engineer in the Ekati team makes me wonder if that was a shot gun wedding. Years ago when I was involved in Consulting we had a witch of a time with the Japanese authorities interfering in Engineering assignments as an early move to secure on going business, as I mentioned to Teevee earlier in the day before I got your comments.

The thot sure as hell plickens!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit
The really interesting thing is that this knowledge has been available to RT for months I suspect and must have already been "discounted" in his considerations. This is exactly what one means when they say "There's lots going on under the surface"

Haven't had so much fun for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Can't wait to see what to0morrow brings.
