To NW & Mad2,
You guys do a great job on research. I always enjoy your posts. You beat me to the punch on both the ELBO / AOL story and the article about the failed launch of Sega's Saturn. The alliance with AOL can only help ebworld.com as far as branding, exposure, and prestige but more importantly it will actual drive new visitors to the EB site where they will get a chance to experience first hand the re-launched version of ebworld.com coming later this month. Now I fully understand why it was so important for EB to build the new "state of the art" fulfillment/call center...so that first time visitor/buyers will have a positive experience. They say you only get one chance to do it right it the world of E-Commerce. If you perform up to the customers expectations, you can win a loyal repeat buyer...if you don't...you never see them again. I guess this is why EB felt it so important to have the infrastructure in place prior to any roll out of the site.
As far as your combined take on Sega, I tend to agree with you that ELBO is certainly in the cat bird seat here. ELBO can only win in the whirlwind of hype and media blitz surrounding this launch. Now whether or not Sega re-captures its former glory days remains to be seen and quite frankly I think Sony and Nintendo will have something to say about this moving forward...but for now it will be truck loads of cash being deposited into ELBO's bank vault and the market is finally starting to "get the picture" on this one:-)
Good luck to you both with all your investments.
Regards,
RBL
