Please don't misunderstand...... this was a 1988 perspective, with a little bit of 90's absorption thrown in. Lots of the confusing stuff that I was talking about has certainly been resolved. I was so sick of therapeutic monoclonals at the turn of the decade that I've only recently begun to look again. Just joined the PDLI yahoo club.... thanks for the pointer, Gordon.

Ah, you already know about the club, good. Figured that given your interest in this topic, you would like it (hate to put in plugs for competing discussion sites hereabouts, but figured I'd make an exception given the quality of this particular one).

This antibody patent stuff is indeed a convoluted business! Can't say that I understand it very well either (haven't spent much time digging into it), except for the general notion that PDLI should get money from people doing humanized MAbs, Celltech should get it from people doing chimerized, etc...
