Telco deals could boost reach of DSL services

A wholesale DSL provider is negotiating with at least two major local phone companies on separate deals that could significantly boost availability and cut prices of the high-speed data services.

The potential agreements between Covad Communications Co., which primarily provides wholesale digital subscriber line services to ISPs (Internet service providers), and the telcos could provide relief for corporations clamoring for fast and affordable data services.

Eric Moyer, senior product manager of value-added services at Covad, confirmed the Santa Clara, Calif., company is in talks with two incumbent phone compa nies but declined to identify them.

I don't see this posted and think that it could/will be very significant for COVAD.
