Jim - <Where did you come up with the one jump scenario?>

So clarify Jim. What real difference will it make if AMD scales to 1GHz on its magical .25 process (see my earlier post) over time, and Intel can do the same on it's as advertised .18?

The tone of your post was in line with the "magical" theme of AMD's current process and architecture and design.

I am going to try and wind this thread down by saying that by what I've seen from a competitive analysis, there is nothing magical going on, nor do I believe there will be.

Time will bear out if I am right or wrong. I am concerned about AMD scaling just like I would in any other competitive situation as this. However, I am not worried that AMD has some magical scaling apparatus up their sleeve that Intel will not be able to compete with. I base this on my experience and knowledge of the current situation. Feel free to shoot holes in my point of view. Feel free to scoff. I can't really defend my position any more than what I have, but I have left severe clues as to why I come to the conclusions that I do. Time will have to bear out if I'm right or wrong, and the information should be there to analyze by the end of the year.
