There are several logic explanations.

1. Oracle has great fundamentals now that we more and
more entering the web-economy. MSFT don't for example.
They lack vision and are shooting on all what is moving.
MSFT's plus has deep pockets full of money. SO they buy
and buy and buy. Why, because Bill is paranoid.

2. Oracle has been in a trading range for quiet a while.
Now they are leaving this range. The upcoming (and proba-
bly good) earnings gives the stock the momentum.

3. Last time Oracle blew away the estimates and Oracle
soared 30%. Wallstreet has not forgotten that and probably
expects another blow out.

4. The Operating System was the center of the IT-universe
in the last few decades. In the web-economy the database
will be in the center. Very, very good for Oracle. But I
doubt if Wallstreet already understands this

5. The net-stocks finally plunged big this year. So people
are a little bit scared. They look for certainty. So we have
seen a focus on the companies building the infrastructure.
The dot.coms are all burning cash and at this moment it is
impossible to predict who will win.

Hopes this helps a little,

Paul
