I think the Nintendo issue was a matter of interpretation, but the most likely reading of the statement was that they have a new SRAM type for video frame memory, and still use RDRAM for main memory.

They are using both Rambus and embedded dram which is hyped up to be called 1T sram for marketing purposes.
