Are you seriously saying that the simultaneous occurance of two trends establishes a causative relationship, or justifies an assumption of common cause?

You would have to agree, then, that the measured increase in global temperature is caused by an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.

This is simply sloppy thinking, and does nothing to support any cause. The simultaneous occurance of X and Y does not prove that X caused Y, or that Y caused X. Both could have any number of totally independent causes, which must be individually assessed.

Perhaps this would be a better way of framing it: it makes sense that the widespread killing of something that all persons happy to be pregnant regard as a baby, and refer to almost immediately as their child, should have an impact on the overall value the culture attaches to human life, and therefore it is reasonable, if not conclusive, to cite the rise in child abuse, the strange rash of middle- class teenage girls dumping their newborns, and the fairly recent phenomenon of mass shootings as schools as being an outgrowth of a "culture of death" to which abortion contributes. Since we are not sociologists, we do not have at our fingertips studies on these issues, and those which are fairly easy to find are generally summarized on pro- life sites, and therefore are dismissed by those not inclined to believe them. Therefore, we are not in a position to prove it. On the other hand, it is hard to understand why some do not find it more troubling......
