Actually, I don't think Orbison was "country", at least not in the usual sense... he sort of defied classification, so I like the "sound that was *his*" definition better. Probably have to go to the country section of the music store to find his CDs though... Ah... and you ask about the illusive "poutine" that seems to be commonly known only amongst we Canajuns of the eastern region (thus far)... The Poutine seems to have originated in Quebec (exactly "where" and "when" is unknown to me). A poutine consists of a container full of french fries floating in either "yellow sauce" (chicken gravy) or "red sauce" (beef gravy), with cheddar cheese curds melted into the whole gloppy affair. In my travels, I have noticed the humble but adventurous poutine moving steadily away from its epicenter in Quebec at an estimated rate of 200 miles per year. Thus far, in Canada, poutines have been encountered in Ontario, New Bruswick, and Nova Scotia. In the U.S., they've been encountered in Maine and possibly in Vermont and New Hampshire if my memory serves me correctly.... but I have recently been informed by a fellow S.I.er, that his wife now has made use of my "classified information" on poutines and is now serving them at her restaurant in... hmmm...think it's...Colorado. So, if the usual "200 miles per year" rate continues, I suspect that you may encounter Poutines throughout much of the United States within 5 years. Of course, this is assuming that there are no further unexpected Poutine Outbreaks in areas such as Washington or Oregon. I, personally, haven't done any reconnaissance work in Florida, but I think that there is about a 99% chance that there has already been a Poutine Occurrence there as there are many, many Quebecoise Snowbirds who frequent that tourist destination, and I'm not so naive as to believe that some enterprising Floridian hasn't added Poutines to his/her menu. As for whether or not I personally eat poutines.... NO WAAAAAAAYYYYY!!!! It has always been my intention to live past 50...;-}>
