Cosmo,

CDMA, GSM and TDMA are different types of radio frequency air interfaces (with apologies to engineer, if you're back home), functioning per code division or time division multiple access in order to transmit digital bits across that air interface. Fiber is a different medium throught which the digitized information is transmitted per laser pump modules or other to keep the lambda flowing to the destination/fiber bragg grating/router/opto electronic switch.

As far as I know, there is no reason why there can not be a hand-off from CDMA or TDMA to fiber pipe, but obviously the switches and chips need to be appropriately configured for one or the other.

Regards. Steven@knownothing and luddites anonymous.
