Code fragmentation is one of the biggest concerns and was the problem with Unix. Except that was because of closed source - SGI needed a graphic OS, Sun needed a network OS.

There's no incentive to fragment. If it's good code, it will get put in.

I'm sure MS will make a "Pearl Harbor" attack with their own version disguised by another company.

The surprise attack will come any day now.
