<< "The drillers are the play">> JQP - the drillers & transition zone service companies are ''the play'' - WITHIN the OSX subsectors.... as in - opposed to the fab companies like FGI/HLX. ... ie: ''IF" there is indeed a Boom 2000 (I think there will be!) then FLC et al... will be ''the'' plays within the OSX imho.. NOT that they exceed the E&P prospects at all. They obviously wilt in comparison to the E&P's fundamentals nearterm... nothing changed in my thinking there. I think I've done that post about 326 times and I don't think anyone took that as me making the drillers - my Slidomatic pick of the day etc. (VBG)... allthough the "Falcon'' is mighty, mighty attractive around $11 ish if seen again ! I own ''zero'' driller, or service companies here; but - I have FLC ''calls'' as my first re-entry target on ''any'' correction here. Also; I am not saying that the OSX companies are over-priced here- they are not ! I see no short selling prospects etc. - it is merely a matter of the E&P's having better upside nearterm. Lots of doubles vs. 30% moves imho... I have no real arguement with anyone preferring the driller & service companies... they have 30% upside in the bag within 6 months and 50% within 12-18 imho.... who can ''diss'' that ! I think the OSX's sweetspot will be near the end of Q2 2000; the rig counts will be solid by then and they will be far enough along in Q2 that the analysts will know they have finally turned the corner fundamentally. When they do - I fully plan to be re-rotating back into a more equal weighting between OSX & E&P stocks. There will be a retracement in the Nat Gas stocks -come end of the Winter Heating season... I am allready looking at companies I want to rotate into prior to that happening - and I like the GLBL HOFF TCMS - FLC RDC shallow water niche; or perhaps rotating into more ''oily'' names within the E&P sector like VPI, or OEI NEV etc. Untill they post the quarterlies that show strong year over year upside surprises- or untill rig counts hit 135+ - within striking distance of Palmer's now famous 150 GOM Rigs at Work benchmark; then we stay rangebound... maybe OSX 85 - 100 ish through XMAS and then push towards OSX 120 by Q2 ??? Hardly anything to be asahamed of... but: I think I get those returns in the next week perhaps with MEXP and the next month with RRC (VBG)... then there is still OEI XTO CRK UPR HSE etc... PS - lots of MEXP investors ''frozen'' here... I get email; that I'm either selling MEXP into a coming spike that I am creating, or trying to, or shorting it - and that they will buy when I sell; sell when I buy - etc... hmmm; it all most becomes a psychological riddle; does someone say buy - knowing that the reaction will be for others to dump... expecting a pump & dump ? -- pretty good accumulation technique if such real world circumstances existed (VBG). Well, in reality; this MEXP hooplah has certainly has led to a sitting duck target for buying MEXP here at $2 1/4ish now hasn't it (VBG).... Someone sold a boatload of RRC this morning (VBG) - wonder if some of that $ is just sitting there hitting MEXP 1000, 1000, 2000, 1000, 1000, 5000, maybe sneaking in a 10K or two at the close... (VBG). And Jim L said no one could accumulate 100K without ramping it up.... well, maybe, maybe not (VBG)? - just depends how the tape is manipulated... err worked. Looks like it can (is ?) being done over just a couple of days perhaps ! The Sheep are ''frozen'' - whodathunkit ??? Momma allways said a sitting duck was easier to hit than a moving target... ...accumulation - yea, that's the word for the day.
