Don, i applaud the Japanese government's deficit spending policies in principle. it is the only way to mobilize the savings pool. of course there is a risk that lots of white elephants are created along the way (you know, the bridges that lead to nowhere), but i don't see an alternative at this point. worries about the Japanese public sector deficit are overblown imo. as i have posted last week, it is likely that this will accelerate the flow of capital into Japan, and that can't be bad from the Japanese POV.
