Because consumers are now smart enough to buy from GTW and DELL. Six months ago there was a mad rush at Office Max when they liquidated a PC box alone for $500. Today, the retail stores are missing customers at the PC counter even though a CPQ or HWP box plus monitor has a sign in front of it saying "free" after rebate. GTW and DELL are eating the PC market share of high rent retailers like CPU and now maybe even BBY. I think you need to split your opinion on the market dynamics rather than paint the industry with a broad brush. Here, look see, a Reuters high schooler called this one correct in an article about Ingrown Micro: "The earnings shortfall comes amid continuing turmoil in the computer industry, which has been hurt by falling prices and basic changes in its inventory supply chain as businesses and consumers have increasingly begun to favor direct purchasing instead of indirect corporate distributors and retail outlets." dailynews.yahoo.com Just bought some Global Tele (GBLX) today. Yee ha! If Microsoft and friends can pony up $350 mill. then certainly I can pay $24K for 1K shares. <g> Lots of fear in the long distance players so lots of volatility. Still playing the cable equipment long plays. HLIT is going to pull a Brocade and touch $200, and then I may foolishly buy some puts.
