At a recent conference I asked SDL's management about Bookham and they said they were aware of their technology, but weren't threatened. "We've seen them at shows, but no one takes them seriously."

At that time I'd never heard of LUMM, so no comment there.

This is not to say LUMM won't go to the moon. Recently, having unverifiable promise seems to be the key ingredient for stock appreciation.
