In all fairness, one reason that a lot of my relationships didn't last was that it would turn out that the woman whom I thought was "just a friend" was really in love with me, and there was some other sort of overly emotion stake for some of the guys, like wanting me to confirm their specialness. One guy drifted away rapidly when he discovered that he did not particularly remind me of myself when I was his age (2 years younger). Another, after finding that I objected to his pet thesis (that all motivation was really egocentric), and that I did not argue differently with him than with a girl that he despised, practically stopped talking to me. Therefore, only some of them were ordinary falling by the wayside, some ended quite strangely.....
