Um, on that line of thought...

Sadism is genetic. It is related to schizoid disorder. It also cannot be identified by a single trait, but instead starts as a predisposition.

So that makes torture sex ok, between willing partners, right? And then, we can let these people adopt, and raise healthy children....

I doubt much research has been done on it. However, since I seriously doubt that anybody would voluntarily choose such a thing, I suspect that there is at least some genetic component to it. If not, why would anybody every choose it?
