U.S. official expects little 9/9/99 disruption
Reuters - Posted at 6:26 a.m. PDT Thursday, September 9, 1999

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With the rest of the world reporting few computer
program disruptions on this ninth day of the ninth month in 1999 because of the
widespread use of the 9/9/99 numeral string, U.S. officials expect smooth
operations across the country, a Y2K conversion official said.

After governments across southeast Asia reported no problems early Thursday,
John Koskinen, head of the White House Council on Y2K conversion, said on
CNN: ''We expect we'll get through this day all right.''
