Jim,

Re: "Very little we can do about it except sit back and watch AMD
and the Taiwan mobomakers handle the Athlon launch like the Keystone cops
passing around a hot potato."

Very "astute" observation, Jim ... Do you think that AMD will "eek-out"
a profit "anytime" soon ??

Make It So,

<AMD was smart to make their own chip set and mobo but dumb not to make more of them, the mobos that is.>

Perhaps its was a resource issue, as in AMD not having the resources to prime the pump enough? A lot of what AMD does relies on the "Build it and they will come" philosophy, it seems. Seems that AMD's spotty record of execution continues to haunt them, as motherboard makers weren't really motivated to build enough Athlon boards until now. This makes the phantom slip extend out even more than it should have.

But I guess everyone except the most blinded of AMD supporters (cough, cough, Herr Uberclockermeister, cough, cough) knows this by now.
