PLANO, Texas -- EDS announces today that Terence V. (Terry) Milholland, former vice president and chief information officer for The Boeing Company, has been named senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) for EDS.

As CIO, Milholland will assume responsibility for aligning EDS' internal use of information technology with its business objectives and transformation activities. He will oversee internal information technology planning and architecture, manage the internal application portfolio, and direct implementation of a new enterprise-wide system. In addition, Milholland will be responsible for internal Year 2000 remediation and knowledge management initiatives within the company. The global information technology services company said Milholland, 52, will join the company on Sept. 20, and will report directly to Chief Financial Officer Jim Daley.

"EDS is on the brink of many important changes that will help us become even more effective in improving our clients' performance," Daley said. "The systems we need to support high-quality service delivery are essential to our strategy and performance goals. Terry has a unique understanding of large-scale systems and process improvement, and he'll be a valuable addition to our team."

"I'm enthused about joining a company with such a bright future," said Milholland. "I'm impressed with how EDS is tackling head-on some of the key issues that need to be addressed to ensure client-focused solutions, and I'm confident my experience in dealing with some of those same challenges will help accelerate EDS' transformation."

As Boeing's CIO, Milholland played a prominent role in its Year 2000 remediation program and led the technical direction for the company's eight product organizations. Before serving as CIO, Milholland was vice president of Information Systems for Boeing's Defense & Space Group and also served as director of Information Systems for the 737 and 757 airplane programs.

Acting CIO Dan Leffel will work to help transition the department's activities to Milholland.

Milholland earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Maryland in 1969 and a master's degree in computer science from George Washington University in 1977. He attended the Management Development Program at the Harvard School of Business in 1985.

EDS, a leader in the global information technology services industry for more than 35 years, delivers management consulting, electronic business solutions, and systems and technology expertise to improve the performance of more than 9,000 business and government clients in about 50 countries.
