Johnd, I have to say that i basically ignore "moving averages", trends etc.... That is why i don't respond to such posts. I don't really believe in TA and i don't understand it either. As for PEs, my position is that in this environment it is market dominance that really matters. Just look to internet stocks for comparison.
IMHO, the negatives due to the trial are already factored in.
If Jackson rules for MSFT, stock goes up.
If Jackson rules against MSFT, the stock still goes up!!!
It is that simple.
Additionally, compare MSFT to Intel, Sunw, Oracle, IBM, Gateway etc. Those stocks have moved up in a big way while MSFT has not. That should be an indicator that MSFT is the "right" stock to own at this time as a defense against market selloffs and for market rallies.
We are on the verge of Windows2000 "hype" which should replace the Red Hat (Linux) hype----the moves in MSFT might be big. I trust MSFT management to provide consistent gains in the stock and they will do everything in their power to ensure this happens.

Good luck with your strategy but i have to tell you that picking a bottom on MSFT is going to be difficult in this market.
