Roger, block copy your post and mail it to SUNW Investor Relations. When you find the support resource, post it.

You're right. They redirected the Stardivision page to sun.com and didn't ramp up the support. That was a mistake.

That GPF is in KRNL386.EXE according to the information you provided. If I'm not mistaken, that's in the OS, not in StarOffice. I suspect it's a font problem with Windows. Do you have all the Windows patches installed?

Blame it on Bill Gates.

JMHO.

I've installed it on Windows NT, 95 and Solaris and haven't had this kind of failure, but this kind of problem is common with Windows. You probably need to re-install Windows (I'm not kidding either).

I do have a bunch of problems with the email client and proxy server support, and nobody is responding on the newsgroups as you found. Hopefully this will improve, otherwise Sun is going to be sorrryyy.

Actually, this kind of installation nightmare is exactly why StarPortal will be better: there simply is no installation. Just point your browser at starportal.sun.whatever and voila, you're running.

That's assuming your browser supports the latest version of Java, and that it doesn't crash Windows itself.

Ahh well. Progress is a wonderful thing, especially when its forwards.
