Finally, a soft spot in the economy. Perhaps this could be offered as an appeasement to Meyers. Nahhhh, appeasement never works. Let's recall Rivlin to "nuke" him instead. :-)

Amer Xtal To Suspend Wafer Shipments To GM Hughes Elec's Spectrolab

(Corrected 4:22 PM)

FREMONT, Calif. -- American Xtal Technology Inc. (AXTI) plans to suspend shipment of germanium wafers to Hughes Electronics Corp.'s Spectrolab unit.

In a press release Wednesday, American Xtal said Spectrolab requested shipments to be suspended for about two months because of continued softness in the satellite market.

American Xtal expects the suspension, scheduled to begin this week, will hurt revenue by about $1 million a month.

Ian, Speaking of hype. Today is 55 days after the last market peak (S&P 500 on 7/16/99).

TV business commentators pointed out that the 1929 & 1987 crashes happened 55 days after market peaks.........

'nough hype for today? <g>
