Riley You need only one cable modem, the cable line goes into the modem. A cat 5 line comes out of the modem, and goes into a ethernet hud .the hub has ports that you run cat 5 wire to each computer. each computer needs an ethernet card. its a no brainer, you buy the hub, cards, and wire. all available at any store or catalog. tell the clerk what your doing, chances are two or three people a week walk in for this stuff they know what you need. stick the cards in , load the drivers, and then just plug the wire into the hub. your done! The cable co. encourged me to do this in their sales pitch. No extra fees, just like with the tv.

All computers would need the card - however if you go to your local 'computer junkie' shop you can pick up used cards around here (Cinci)for $5.00 - if you know what you're doing - we need something with instructions - smile. Honor
