Re: the Rambus memory was using the PC 800 version...

Well, there goes the theory that it was PC600 at 53ns. Are you confirming the performance figures that were listed?

Maybe this is a kind of reverse example of the performance hit that will occur with the MTH.

RE: <I listened to Jay Bell's presentation. On two separate occasions he mentioned that the Rambus memory was using the PC 800 version of RDRAM. However, what I find very interesting and a little confusing is that he also said the computer which was doing the RDRAM demo (DELL GX300) was operating with a 100mhz front side bus.>

Doug, thanks for reporting. It is really good to have someone who was actually there.

It sounds like this was 100 MHz FSB vs a 100 MHz FSB comparison. A PC133 system would also run faster with a 133 MHz FSB so it's not clear that the 100 MHz FSB is unfair to Rambus. But it is very unclear why Jay Bell would present this data while preaching in favor of Rambus at the same time. Did anyone ask him during the Q&A why he using Rambus if his own tests show that it's significantly slower?

I know that McComas is biased (but, hey, he's not the only one) but is there anything in his posting that you know to be incorrect due to your attendance at Bell's presentation?
